Joseph Garas SC has a practice in commercial litigation, with over 25 years of experience. He regularly acts in disputes arising out of commercial contracts, with a focus on mining, energy and resources, and major construction projects, and also has substantial experience in banking, insolvency, directors’ duties and professional liability.
In addition, over the last decade, Joseph has regularly acted in large-scale international and domestic arbitrations.
Joseph joined the Bar in 2007 and was appointed Senior Counsel in 2019. Prior to becoming a barrister, he had a broad commercial litigation practice at Allens Arthur Robinson, and before that Mallesons Stephen Jaques.
He was educated at the University of Western Australia, and while in practice returned to tutor students for some years.
