PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE:
Long practises primarily in commercial litigation, class actions, public law, and corporate insolvency. He has particular experience in complex commercial cases, including joint venture and post-M&A disputes, securities class actions, gas pricing reviews, and major construction and infrastructure disputes.
Before joining the Bar, Long was a solicitor in the dispute resolution group at Herbert Smith Freehills in Perth and Hong Kong. He previously worked at the Supreme Court of Western Australia as an associate to the Hon Justice James Edelman (now of the High Court of Australia) and the Hon Justice Janine Pritchard. Long lectures in conflict of laws (private international law) at the University of Western Australia.
Long holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Australia and a Master of Laws (Class I) from the University of Cambridge.
